Buying train tickets over internet

I bought some advance train tickets over the internet at the weekend.

I am aware that the tickets are not refundable - but know that there is a cooling off period for goods bought over the internet.

does a similar cooling off period apply to things such as tickets for events, travel etc?

If so, could I be pointed in the correct direction?

As above, tickets for travel are among those items exempt from the cancellation rights of the Distance Selling Regulations.

Who did you buy from? This happened to me in the past with the trainline and I called them and they cancelled them when I explained I had made a mistake on the date. Also if you have a good reason for cancelling the train company may refund. For example virgin trains refunded 4 of my friends tickets when one of the 4 tragically died in an accident. As with everything if you don't phone up you don't get anything.
