NSD today, as I feel rubbish! I've got the flu-ey bug that's going round, and my fingers are aching just typing this...

Hopefully that means that a) I'll be off work tom and be able to rest/do house-type jobs that are manageable, and b) that I won't go and spend any money for the rest of today or tom. Can't today tbf, so it's just tom to worry about. If I'm still off work on weds, that'll be another nsd. Must really update my sig now, as the numbers are out, haven't added on this weekend's spends.

Off to dish up the hm pizza, not that I'll eat much of it, but the ch will wolf it down I'm sure! I may have some soup later on if I feel up to it.

    Night all,

Afternoon everyone. Reporting a (somewhat guilty feeling) 70p for a tin of pop from the machine at work. I'll update my sig now. Tomorrow should be my big shop (trying to do one shop instead of lots of little ones, but we'll see) so I won't get an NSD. Never mind. It makes me even more determined to save money!

Tonight's tea is enchiladas using a pork steak, loads of mushrooms, peppers and onions. I might make a change to the mealplan concerning next Sunday dinner if I can't find a decent offer for pork joints. We'll see how it goes.

Have a good evening, everyone. This is though :(

Evening everyone - hugs to all who need them.

Just popping to report a NSD today. Not only that but a student at school was making Summer pudding and was about to ditch all her crusts and spare slices of white bread. Before I could even think about the wisdom of the action I said - don't bin it you could make a lovely bread pudding with those. At which point she passed the packet to me and said - go on then I dont want them. Result!!

Truthfully it breaks my heart to see the wasted food that some students happily throw away rather than taking home half a packet. Others wisely come with everything weighed out and ready to be used.

    Keep going everyone

BTW the weetabix brownies were a real hit. xx
    44 day challenge

    1. Pay £650 off overdraft (£ 288/ £650)
    2. Lose 12 lbs (4.5/ 12)
    3. Use YNAB everyday (6/44)
  • Keep popping across the road to by cr*p like sweets and choc. Have been using cash I drew out last month, and OH's debit card :p So I haven't been adding those spends - spose that's cheating isn't it.

I made two lasagne's today, can I freeze one? It's at the stage where it's assembled but hasn't gone in the oven. It's great cos I've got 2 weeks' meals out of one tesco shop but it's hard keeping everything fresh for that long!

Just 'popped' into Mr T on the way back from picking up OH's prescription and spent £5.19 on reduced stuff so I am quite pleased with myself.

OH was laughing at me as I raided the YS shelves but he will benefit in the long run.

I've worked out that they put the reduced stuff out at about half 4 so am trying really hard to stop myself going at that time every day as I think I could easily become addicted to the thrill of whoopsie shopping! How does everyone else manage to stay out of the supermarkets??

Going to try and work out how to do my signature now. x

I might make a change to the mealplan concerning next Sunday dinner if I can't find a decent offer for pork joints. We'll see how it goes.
I've just been digging through all the offers on the Mr T site, and am planning to pick up a joint from there when I'm near a large store on Friday (mine will be cooked and then sliced to provide sandwich meat). Offer is £3 off per kg on large pork shoulder joints (1.8kg-3.2kg weight), so down to £2.49/kg.

That said, they're only £3/kg on Mr A's site and not marked as being on offer, so I suspect the Mr T one is a bit of a con

But Mr T is the supermarket I'll be near, plus I got a £10 off a £70 spend with my c/card statement today and I'm actually working through the site to see if I can make use of it - even more so as that would then leave me over £60 for the 10p off a litre of fuel at one of the cheapest filling stations in the area, and I'll probably get 30 litres or so into my tank which is about half full at the moment (so effectively another £3 off the groceries, as I'd have to buy the petrol anyway at some point in the next few weeks ;) )

  • Elsiepac thanks for the fab minestrone soup recipe - will def be trying that one.... it's on of my fav things but I always seem to make a total mess of it when I try:o - that one looks nice & easy so fingers crossed!

Mummyjane your poor DH, as you say, it's never just one thing is it .... hope he's on the road to recovery soon.

Meadows I'd 2nd the suggestion to go for an annual prescription.

Brassic Park I do freeze Lasagne but I cook it and divide into portions first.

Well, NSD today (thank goodness, was getting a bit worried) and really must do an inventory as I do have a fair bit in stocks now. Off to hunt the freezer for something for dinner - can't cook anything else from scratch until I've emptied it a bit:o

For me today, it was that the store was SO busy that I actually couldn't get in the door without pushing - I didn't bother. The joys of London in rush hour. So NSD today.

If you didn't figure out your sig (I browse posts with them off for speed so not sure), it's User CP > Edit Signature. :)
