It is my eldests 10th birthday today. He has chosen Chili Con Carne with Rice and Nachos for his birthday tea. So that is in the SC.

I have some turkey burger mix left over from Saturday so I am going to make meatballs and a tomato herby sauce for those and then it will be reheated on Friday for the kids dinner with some spaghetti.

Will also need to make some more banana bread to use up some soft bananas.

I slipped on some ice this morning and my back is feeling a little sore. So I need to be careful.

  • Been to Aldi this morning & spent about £30. They had a few things with 50% off stickers on so managed to get a punnet of cherry tomatoes for 29p (eat 4 already!), a punnet of plums for 44p, a punnet of strawberries for 49p,baby mushrooms for 34p and celery 29p. Cant complain at any of that but did I really need the peanut oil? Probably not! Then went to he Co op on the way home & probably spent way over the top on some cake & muffin cases, some dessicated coconut & some dates for cooking. Still, at least it meant I didn't have to go into town which I am never very keen on doing.

mummyjane - I've never heard of what your husband has had but it doesn't sound nice & my thoughts are with you.

Wish the weather would warm up. My DS (who is diabetic) has had so many hypos the last week and with very little awareness of them, presumably because of the cold weather and he (& me) is shattered. Roll on spring!

    todays shopping:

l*dl £1.80 for milk and eggs this morning, frustratingly i forgot i promised DS pancakes for breakfast this morning and last night when i got in from work i fancied a bacon and egg sarnie using the last egg! i had already ordered eggs in my internet shop from Mr S already on its way so now i have an egg glut lol

£2.55 in sp*r yesterday for yellow sticker sarnie for work, mr k apple pies (which i discovered had been dropped and were a bit crumbly so i smothered them in auntie b's 3p custard and we ate them while wathcing the time travellers wife last night on C4) and green bananas cos sp*r staff seem incapable of ripening bananas and they are always selling them off cheap and voila a day on my windowsill and they are edible.

£47.10 for the big monthly internet shop from Mr S all the heavy stuff and bogofs i need.

i cant believe i have spent so much and i have only £26.09 left.

Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and wishes :) Everyone on here is so supportive, you really are a wonderful bunch of ladies and gents x

I popped in to the Co-op earlier for coco-pops for dd, came out with them (plus two huge pizzas for £1 each) and picked up a box of chocolates for dh for valentines day which were half price so that's him sorted ;)

Went back to work today :( was nice to see everyone but feel like staying at home at the moment as I have so much studying to catch up on.

Long Tall Sally - What a worry for you with your son, it is scary when they have hypos, especially if they can't feel them coming on. I hope he has a better week this week x

Tigerfeet2006 - I hope your back is ok, I bet that gave you a fright, take care x

This is a public owning up to going way out of control this month - I am already on £221.81/£250, and this is until the 19th Feb, so not good. We have been decorating DS bedroom for his birthday and I have been spending money like water on that, getting bogged down in decorating and the chaos of the house, and not menu planning.

The result is I have already spent as much as I did for the whole of last month, and still have 2 weeks to go, aaaagggh!

So, back on track today, I have meal planned for the rest of the week, and do not intend to spend any more money on anything this week. I have a veg box arriving on Thursday, I get this fortnightly, so essentials only after that. I know the cupboards and freezers have plenty in them, so I have no excuse really. The new carpet goes down tomorrow afternoon and then I can get the house, and my head, back in order. Just annoyed at myself when I had been doing so well.

Ok, here goes, I've been avoiding totalling my spends up but I can't put it off much longer. My month goes from 27th Jan to 23rd Feb:

    L*dl - £4.36, £3.28, £7.19 = £14.83
    Mr T - £33.68, £4.89, £22.00 = £60.57
    Co-*p - £9.99
    A*di - £5.50
    H**on - £4
    £land - £4

Total = £98.89, so nearly 50% of my budget spent already with 17 days to go yet. Hmm, will try my best but think it will be tight :) Got visitors coming the weekend after next so that might tip it over!

So sorry to read of the problems some people are having, a big hug to all that need one.

I have still not been out shopping yet,I discovered 4 boxes of UHT milk in my outside store so didnt need anything. So day 6 for NSD. Am still using up my pot of lamb stew and have decided now to
do an on line order for Rosspa for next Friday and manage with whats in till then. So that means 10 NSD,:T

Must admit thou amd really fed up of staying in and think I will sort
out something to take to the charity shop.I discovered that the Salvation Army have a reward scheme and for every £5 you spend they stamp a card and you get £5 to spend for every 10 stamps. Alsoif you buy a reusable bag to take your donations in you get £2 per bag to spend.Worth looking into I think.
