Hi,
Can you get insurance for your allotment shed and its contents.
Just been up to ours and found out that some bloody thieves have stolen our mantis, strimmer and dab radio from our allotment...
Police have been informed.
30 other plot holders had there sheds broken into the same time .!!
I have never heard of insurance on your lotty shed but your thoughts and ideas would be a great help
xx

your allotment society should provide cover if you have one, otherwise see if the other plot holders wish to join you and get joint cover, if not you can get individual cover.
it is also worth checking with your household insurers to see if your already covered as some cover outbuildings.
good luck

how mean that things were stolen,if they broke into ours I would be very sad-things like granddads garden tools are not just tools but memories too.made me think about our allotment shed and insurance.

What you need to do is get a microswitch, a timer, and a stick of dynamite.... It won't save the shed, but boy the satisfaction of seeing the scumbags blown to pieces, and who knows all that Blood and Bone will do wonders for the Tomatoes.
Sadly I am told this would be illegal, I say prove someone else did not booby trap my shed as I've got a really big Marrow :rotfl:
Failing that try here..

We have had our lotty shed broken into about 4 times now, they have never taken anything because i only keep basic tools in there. I do leave the strimmer but take the battery home so it's not worth nicking and i don't bother locking it anymore either just shut it with a brick.
The little gits are usually after things they can sell-radios,petrol strimmers and power tools.
I figure i would rather they didn't wreck my shed door with a crow bar and take a peek at what we haven't got in there and !!!!!! off.0 -
Home cover will not cover outbuildings away from home.
Not all allotment associations will provide insurance for their members.
Try the NSALG.0 -
This may be old advice but I remember hearing some time ago that you should avoid leaving anything of value in an allotment shed and leave it unlocked to avoid the expense of replacing broken locks/doors. Can't you transport radio's and hand tools to the allotment and home again it would be much safer. If thieves realise that there is nothing of value in the sheds they will go elsewhere but if they think that they can get something of value nothing will stop them, I have even heard of an allotment association secure metal storage container being broken into and the rotavator being stolen so a hasp and staple on a wooden shed won't stop theft.0

Its a crying shame isn't it? I'd love to get my own back as well.
We've had our shed broken into at home so I know how you feel. We're not allowed to have sheds on our allotment, the council say as these nothing to steel we won't have any vadalisum, if only that were true. People have still have produce damaged or stollen.
Lets all kick up a pumpkin  to show how tough we are :eek:0
