My local rag published a front page story about a man who picked-up a 'fine' for turning-round in a hotel carpark.
I wrote-in to point-out that it was not a 'fine' but an 'unenforceable invoice', and pointing to this site and Peppioo as good places to obtain info on how to deal with them.
As said rag has a policy of not allowing comments on parking stories featured on its website, I added the following to the bottom of the email -
"P.S.
Knowing your paper has a habit of not printing anti-PPC letters, I have placed a £5 bet that this letter fails to make it into the letters page'.
The next day, the editor emailed me to ask for my address as he wished to publish it.
True to his word, it appeared, completely unedited, on the letters page.
Bearing in mind the paper is read by 65,000 people, if just 10% take-in the content of the letter, thats 6,500 people who will now know to ignore the PPC junk mail.

Excellent stuff, wish the media would print out the facts about these invoices, my local rag is okay on this, they allow comments online of articles, and have printed a few times letters sent to them about private parking companies . They still call em fines thoughExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
My local rag has yet to take up my offer of setting up Parking Eye with invoicing a continuous stay, when there were multiple visits, with proof of being elsewhere in between.
But excellent result patman990 -
If everyone countered every article they come across with a letter/email for publication in the letters page, then the paper would soon start to get it's facts right.
In the meantime, every letter published is one more voice added to the crowd as they say.Never Knowingly Understood.

Another day, another letter. This time, from another anti-PPC supporter. Even quoted my original letter. The word is spreading around N. Essex at least.Never Knowingly Understood.

Any links to the letters page of that paper? Would be good to read it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
