Peteuk, I quite agree service personel need to have one eye on post service life long before the time comes, and could in many cases do more to help themselves but I'm not sure pointing that out was particularly helpful here?

We have to remeber that not all advice is positive, lets take a dose of realism and look at the whole financle situation, not only facing service/ex service peeps.

I would never give advice that might lead to financle difficulties in the future, espeically if you take out insurance on a loan then a few months later get a shock when the insurance dont touch you because you either lied or did not reveal the whole info (not that I am saying this is the situaiton)

If someone failed to sort out enough savings for a deposit then with (possibly) no income coming in, how are they going to pay a loan, rent and put food on the table.

Banks are not giving loans to people who they believe are high risk!!!!

So realisticly what I have said is relevant, helpfull but not the 100% happy, jolly news.....Sorry!
