No it doesn't TBH. The word "radiator" is a misnomer. By far the majority of the heat they produce is by convection rather than radiation. Allowing some of that radiated heat (which as I say is small) to be in contact with your wall keeps the wall warm and helps to keep the fabric of the building warm meaning that it is more efficient energywise to heat the building up. It also helps to reduce condensation on an outside wall.

Old thread here. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/345223
I have home made panels on the two radiators I have on outside walls. Without them the walls become very warm and as the walls are solid, a proportion of this heat will escape outside. With them in place the wall is much cooler to touch. The effectiveness will depend on the type of walls you have.
I made my own panels using corrugated card and cheap foil stuck on with wallpaper paste. The panels are a bit smaller than the radiators so are difficult to see. For a few years I had just corrugated card behind one radiator which helped insulate the radiator from the wall. The panels I made cost approx 50p and will stay in place until I leave so even if they save 5% of heat on those two radiators, fitting them will have been very cost effective.0 -

Because....
I wrote HTH to the OP
I read from you as 'no it doesnt TBH'
Which implies my opinion doesnt help. Thats why I took offence.
If it wanst aimed at me then, dont take any offence either at my reply.
