Hi, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 laptop at the weekend. I'm having a problem with the CD Re-writer. It is installed, as it is shown under "My Computer" and I've checked Device Manager and it says it is installed and working.
When I try to find the drive when using Sonic RecordNow, it fails to find and asks me to attach a drive and then search again. The drive is installed, it's just not showing in RecordNow. I've also tried Nero Buring Rom, however the drive was not shown in that program either. It's the Matshita UJDA-770.
Thanks for any help.

I think that model of Toshiba offers a repair and a full refund if anything needs to be replaced.
Have you tryed rebooting.0 -
Yes. I've tried rebooting, unistalling and re-installing and updating the drivers. RecordNow and Nero are still asking me to connect a drive! I've emailed Toshiba support so looks like I'll have to wait for them to reply.

you will be in for a long wait, Toshiba are useless. Have you tryed reinstalling windows itself.0

Hi, maybe an obvious one but have you tried the most recent versions of nero and sonic? It might be the versions you have installed are too old to support your drive.0

It's a brand new laptop, I don't really want to re-install Windows already. Surely I shouldn't have to do that?0

in nero theres a thing called Choose Recorder from the main drop down menus, under tools.
also check in control panel/system/device manager that the drive shows up there:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -
Just managed to sort it. Went to the Sonic website, and tried to do LiveChat. Below was a list of the most common problems and the disappearing CD-RW drive was there. After reading about it, they let you download a patch. After re-starting the laptop the drive has appeared.0
