A mad man running full steam ahead with a spanner and a toolbox.

He could do with slowing down a bit.

Mind you that would slow down the amount of equity hes building up in his house as hes currently adding 10 to 20ks worth of value every week with that toolbox:D

I like to think that my avatar represents a bloke, like me, who is just getting on with his jobs and with his life. I have a lot of renovations to do and a lot of overpaying to do and I'm getting on with both. Last night for instance while you guys were still on here moaning and sniping, I was pointing an internal wall with lime putty. I'll be letting it cure over today and will finish it off tomorrow with a small tool and handbrush. Lovely job it'll look too, though you can see why modern day builders prefer cement because lime takes so long. It looks great though, unlike cement.

Perhaps you should take a leaf from my book and just get on with it? If you're really a builder then you could pick up a £30k house and get it renovated cheaply and either sell it on or live in it. Much better spending your free time adding to your net wealth and accomplishing something with your building skills than wasting time arguing on here, surely?

So only a raving lunatic would wish for a house price crash.

Hamish, why do you think that everyone that wants lower house prices, wants a crash?

I'd be quite happy for house prices to slowly drop back to a more normal, sustainable level so more people can have a fair crack at the whip.

We're obviously at odds because you have bought property for investment reasons, therefore you need hpi to fulfil your ambitions. I understand that nobody likes to lose money, but you took a gamble and it isn't paying off.

Why can't you see that for the greater good of the economy a sensibly priced housing market, accessible to most, who are not using vast amounts of their income servicing huge mortgages would be better.

    Im not a builder.

Unemployment is rising fast in my area and lots of local firms are very close to going bust, unemployment is speeding up which is causing house prices to tank.

Why would i buy a house now when i can get one a lot cheaper in the future.

Keep concentrating on your net wealth and not an imaginary number, plenty of people have made that mistake in my neck of the woods already.

Moaning and sniping.............you better go read through some of your post history.

Dont get any lime in your eye, it tickles a bit;)

Anybody know where i can find a picture of brad pitt dressed as a ninja, i think its time i had an avatar:)

And how will they do that without a job?

    Oh but you are....

Everybody has seen what happens to the economy and unemployment when house prices fall.

So only a raving lunatic would wish for a house price crash.

Looks like lots of lunatics are going to be very happy then doesnt it.

What is it about you guys and this fabled 'shoebox'?

My wife grew up in such a property and a more contented happy family setting you could not find.

I suppose you 'demand' a 3 bed semi, right off the bat:rotfl:

My brother only paid £145k for his 2 bed mid terrace and this was in Hampshire (admittedly it was a repo and needed a little bit of work, but not £100ks worth).

Graham googled your area and you can pick up a 2 bed mid terrace for £30k. Where did you get your £250k from?

I thought it was Jimmy, but then I also thought he was a builder. It's so difficult to keep up with these ever morphing back stories!
