Main Dealer Woes
Hello Forum!
We have been to our local dealership with a great deal on a new Seat, got through all the credit checks, paid a deposit, didn't sign due to not having my license on my person.
was assured the price was going to be £206 a month. left it that we were going togo back on monday to drop my license off.
Got a call an hour after we had left saying that he was sorry and he had forgotten to put the vat on, it was now £270 a month!!
We obviously argued the point but he said there was nothing he could do, I just wanted to know if there was anything we could do, as we have paid a deposit etc, but not signed anything unfortunately....
Thanks in advance.

You paid the deposit based on the £206/month deal.
As they made a mistake, then you are entitled to get out of the deal and get your deposit back. (In the absence of any written agreement, you cannot force them to honour the £206/month, if that's what you were hoping!)0 -
I wouldn't fancy buying a car from a dealership who 'Forgets' to do things anyway0
-
Weve agreed to being credit searched on the basis of £206 p/month which is actually false information and the dealer printed the agreement off ready for it to be signed when we traded our car and i returned with my driving licence is that not against trading standards to agree to sell something at one price and then not?0

It would be illegal to sell it with out VAT- you may get a call from the taxman, best get out of it now.0

VAT wouldn't make that much difference surely?0

They made a mistake, so you have no "rights" comeback at all.
If you want to do business with them still, then perhaps you could squeeze a goodwill gesture from them, but hoping to get them on a "rights" issue (like breaching ts etc) is a non starter., and no chance of getting the £206/month deal (unless you can get them to do it at £206/month over a longer period!)0 -
OP, what exactly do you want to happen here? If you're expect the deal to go through with you only paying the originally agreed £206 per month then you need to get real cos it aint going to happen.0
