Are you using Norton?
Try these suggestions:
1. In IE goto tools, then internet options, then click on the advanced tab, then click on reset. close IE. then reopen, you should then go back and instead of the advanced tab click on Programs, then manage addons : you may wish to re-able any AV settings, but I would leave the rest disabled.
2. Try another browser and see if it happens. If not and you like/want IE, then either upgrade to the next version - IE9 on Vista/7, or 8 on XP. If you're already there, then uninstall the current version, it will take you then back to the previous version automatically. You could then try downloading the version you want and re-installing - always remembering to reboot after any un-install..........0 -
Thanks for your reply. I'll need to check what i'm using as its a new laptop - 3 months old. The other problem I have is that a box keeps appearing in the bottom right corner saying I am using a lot of memory. I don't have any other applications installed, I only use it for internet browsing.0

Sounds like you are using either Avira or AVG - they have these memory nag pop-ups - can't remember whether they just disappeared, or I changed the the AV settings to make it go away - I wouldn't worry about it apart from the intrusion. For avira look at:

avg

Going back to your original question, might it be worth seeing if you get the problem with the AV off (warning - obviously it can be dangerous to use the net extensively without an AV - so restrict yrself to yr favorites while testing)? However I would use the IE reset option as yr first port of call, especially as the lappie is new.0 -
There must be some conflict with IE and any Programs you have installed.
if you don't sure what is the problem, you can change a browser for use.
I am really not good at computer hardware. Just for I guess.0
