Should I leave negative feedback?

Hi. I hope that you can help me, as I have a bit of a dilema.
I didn't receive an item from an ebay seller. After a couple of weeks (and an email from me) I had an email from the seller, to say that Royal Mail had accidentially returned the item to them by mistake. The seller asked if I wished to have a refund or if I wished for the item to be sent again. I requested the latter.
After another 2-3 weeks of the item not arriving, I contacted the seller, to ask if the item had again been returned to them by Royal Mail. I didn't have a response or to subsequent emails.
I eventually raised a claim with Ebay and they gave me a full refund, as they had no response from the seller either.
Now, I'm not sure, if the refund comes from Ebay's coffers or from the Seller's Paypal account. I feel as though I should leave some sort of feedback for other buyers but I absoultley hate leaving negative feedback and if I knew where the refund was coming from, I guess that would help me in my decision.
Sorry to be so long winded! Would appreciate any support with this dilema.

Purely due to lack of contact on the 2nd occasion and having to force a paypal refund- I would vote for a negative. Maybe a neutral if I sat hard enough and felt sorry for the seller.
I would never leave anything other than a positive for a lost item, but having to wait for paypal to refund is very poor.Just don't mention the dispute in feedback as it cna be withdrawn.
The paypal refund will have been taken from the seller account, and seller will now be chased to refund them for it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for your reply and help soolin.
It's good to know where the refund is coming from and the info about not mentioning the dispute. I didn't know that either!
I think I may go with the neutral. The seller has excellent feedback, which makes this all the more strange.0 -
If you are unsure, how about a neutral?
The time a seller, essentially did that to me, I left a neutral - and then the item turned up and I repaid. However, although I'm quite pugnacious on the forums, I'm a bit of a !!!!!cat. My rule of thumb is - if the item turns up then that's obviously a positive. If the seller responds well, I don't leave any feedback - it's not a positive but it certainly doesn't deserve non-positive feedback. Neutral is for when the seller appears to respond favourably but gives me the runaround when it comes to following through. Neg is when the seller completely ignores me or tells me I'm lying or whatever (never had that happen but did leave one neg once when the seller never got in contact until I'd negged them, even though I'd given them a chance to respond and then gone to a PP dispute).
But that's just me. You have sixty days to leave feedback so there's no rush; however, it's a commercial transaction - it's not a social-networking site. If you don't warn other buyers about their behaviour, they could continue to get away with it. It is possible it doesn't happen that often, but in a situation like this it's the seller's responsibility to sort it out, so I wouldn't be inclined to be too lenient. It's your money - if you let people get away with it without repercussions from their behaviour, they will do it to someone else."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Left my 1st negative ever, Seller made excuses after the sale, Strange the other buyers have not left feedback.
Wonder if he wanted more money now, I presumed the other bidder who bought the rest of the set offered more money for the one i won.
But no feedback from him yet.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thank you for all your replies!
I won the auction about 6 weeks ago now, so I guess that the item is not going to turn up and as I haven't heard from the seller, I guess that they are not interested in solving the matter.
I have only once left negative feedback before (I've been a member of ebay since 2001) and the seller, left one of those response things, saying that I was a liar etc, etc. Which is why, I'm really put off leaving negative feedback. That, and the fact that the seller has really good feedback for all their other items.
Still, think I will go with the neutral feeback.0 -
If I have to go to dispute for a refund, it's always a neg, however be careful not to mention the dispute in your feedback, if you do they can get it removed and you'll be in the sh*t0
