Nokia with no ringtone

I have an old PAYG Nokia which will now only vibrate & not ring.

I have tried changing various settings with no success but it is such a simple phone to use I am reluctant to abandon it.

Has anyone any ideas or have I just got to accept that its broke?

Thanks

Press the power button once - it should allow you to change the profile. Try another one such as 'Loud'.

Failing that, have you tried a factory reset?

Note, you will lose all of your data/contacts stored on the phone so back them up to the SIM first.

Altering profile to loud hasn't made any difference.

Have gone into Factory reset which asks for a code.

This will be default I think but I don't know what it is.

The speaker may have failed, quite repairable if the phone is worth it.

A factory reset will not do anything if selecting a different ringtone option doesn't play it!

They are available quite cheap e.g. here but you have not said which old Nokia model.

The default security code is usually 12345 or 1234

I have a Sony Ericisson phone and the volume keeps reducing. The button to put the volume up is at the right side top of phone. If I don't continually check the volume and reset it once again it only vibrates but has no sound. It had been like this since I bought it over a year ago, Any advice would be welcome

It's possible that either you are inadvertently pressing the volume button while on the phone (easily done if it is on the side) or the volume down button is faulty and making contact. May just need cleaning.

Is it kept in a case where the volume down button could be pressed?

Probably best to take it into a local mobile phone repair shop.

    Thanks to all responders.

Have tried Factory Reset, no difference.

It is not worth repair, no Usb & I don't know which model.

Will just keep it as standby for outgoing calls.
