Advice on dealing with Recruitment Consultants
Comments
-
I have asked for locations and they just say London and when you ask what tube is it near they say er Bank or whatever and then you will know what type of industry but never the name. I have seen one advert one by agency where they actually mentioned the company in the job spec for example 'work to Coca Cola team deadlines' so I just looked on the companies website and applied via them

Nice one and good for you ! A complete no brainer:).
Many job vacancies with recruitment agencies appear on company websites so it's much better for you to apply that way,0 -
I once applied for a job via a recruitment agency, and they rejected me for the position. I then saw the same job advertised on JobcentrePlus website and applied directly to the company....was offered the job at a salary higher than the advertised range.
It does amuse me to think of the commission they lost by not seriously considering my application. (Was definitely the same job...there's only one company doing this manufacturing in the town)0 -
Yeah so there is always the bit where you read the advert like if it says 'Engineering firm in Romford wants an accounts assistant......' I try to search online for Engineering firms in that area and look at their sites to see if they are advertising or copy a section of the advert to the net to see if more than one agency are advertising word for word the same thing.Nice one and good for you ! A complete no brainer:).

Recruitment consultants are there to sell jobs and are not careers advisers. Most of them wouldn't recognise a good candidate if they came out and bit them on the back of the b*m. It doesn't surprise me in the least that you got an interview going direct with the company0
