Advice on dealing with Recruitment Consultants

Just enquiring what the policy and etiquette should be when an agency puts you forward for a role, and then you get more agencies who contact you and want to put you forward for the same role.
Is it correct to say to agency number 2 and 3," sorry please do not put me forward for that role as I have already been represented by a previous agency", or tell agency number 2 and 3 to put you forward for it as well.
My thinking is that agency 1, may say they will put you forward and then for some reason don't, e.g they might change their minds and put forward another or better candidate. Also the company may prefer to deal with one specific agency from the 3 and therefore your chances of getting an interview would be greater.
Any Thoughts ?

It's up to you but if I was the client and received your details from multiple agencies they would all go in the bin.0

you ask agency 1 to confirm if they are putting you forward and you declime 2 and 3 for that role. otherwise employer gets stuck with 3 lots of introduction fees and won't take you on.Debt free 4th April 2007.

This is correct, but from my experience dealing with agencies - Agencies will 'fight' over who has the right to the introduction fee, rather than companies paying out 2, 3 times etc. I can think of a few agencies who have fallen out because of this and will not offer portability on CRB's with these agencies because of it.0 -
you tell agents 2 and 3 that you have already been introduced to that company, and therefore you do not want your cv forwarding again.0

and most agencies wont tell you who the company is anyway so unless you get a job spec first and they read word for word the same I guess you really have no idea if 2 jobs are the same0

"What" even If you had the best candidate for the role.Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.and most agencies wont tell you who the company is anyway so unless you get a job spec first and they read word for word the same I guess you really have no idea if 2 jobs are the same
I would have thought that as well as they never tell you who the company is, it wouldn't matter if the company received it twice as you wouldn't know it was the same job. Also a specialist recruitment agency might want to forward your CV that has a better relationship with the employer and may more likely lead to you getting the job.
It would be interesting to hear from the recruitment agents perspective to see if they would want to submit your cv to the employer if a previous agency has already done so.0 -
It's not up to the candidate at all as no agency tells you who the job is with as they are scared you will contact them direct and you never find out who they are untill you get an interview. It's up to you but if I was the client and received your details from multiple agencies they would all go in the bin.
Having said that if you guess the company like I did once (Coffee Republic) I told the agency not to put me forward as they had already interviewed me 8 mths previously0 -

If you know your area well you might have an idea who the company is working for from the job description e.g engineering, food processing etc, must be prepared to work shifts etc.
I usually tried to get around it by asking the agency what type of business is the employment ,how many employees are there and the postcode as you might be reliant occasionally on public transport.0 -

I have asked for locations and they just say London and when you ask what tube is it near they say er Bank or whatever and then you will know what type of industry but never the name. I have seen one advert by an agency where they actually mentioned the company in the job spec for example 'work to Coca Cola team deadlines' so I just looked on the companies website and applied via themIf you know your area well you might have an idea who the company is working for from the job description e.g engineering, food processing etc, must be prepared to work shifts etc.
