The bloke next door is the transferee. They are his deeds. The transferor would have been the person owning the property previously. You need to see a copy of your own deeds to see who is liable for what.

thanks that is exactly what I'll be doing if it states that I'm jointly liable then yes I'll pay but if its says otherwise then I'm not simple as that!
  • I mean it's possible that it's just a copy of deeds from the landlords house & not the one he's renting out. I'm going to contact the land registry & find out for sure!

for the sake of 60 quid and a nice new fence, if all the households are paying the same, including himself, id pay it.

i no it wld benifit him the most with the 'good side' but if hes sorting everything out, quotes, been in when the jobs dun etc then £60 is cheap for a quiet life.

last thing you wana do is fall out with the neigbours, you dont no the value of good neighbours till there gone!

I see what your saying but the adjoining rear fence backs on to another property. So half will look new the bit he's replaced & the other part old & it will look odd.

exactly, nice new fence on one side, older fence on the remaining sides, total mismatch.

Im curious to know if the section of fence you sare with your neighbour even requires replacement? does it look shabby at all?

I agree too, it is value for money. The fence is important between neighbours, the sooner is done the better. You do not know what kind neighbour you might get next,

Trouble is that LR records won't enable you to fix the precise location of the boundary to within -/+ 9 inches.

Whilst you are right in principle this one smells to me of the landlord in question blagging his neighbours to cough up for something that is probably totally his responsibility. To me that's tantamount to extortion however small the number is.

    Just sayin'

  • Just to let you all know, it's not the whole fence he's getting replaced it's just the rails & the posts I got it wrong. I spoke to another neighbour who's house is also affected & he's going to cough up some of the money to so I think I will also. I will however be asking for copies of the invoice & some kind of signed receipt to say I've paid him the money. Thanks to all who's replied some great advice cheers :-)
