Hi.
i have quite a lot of videos saved on my PC. i am looking to make/burn them to a DVD and have all the software i need for that job but have decided to look at trimming each video before transfer.
i only need to trim anything from 1 second to 15 seconds from the front/end of each video.
having done a search i actually thought windows movie maker might actually do the job so Dl'd it (not inc. in my ver. of W7) but having "trimmed" only a few seconds from each end it seems it needs to save the whole "trimmed" video which was going to take an age each time.
my actual question is - is there a simple bit of software where i can just trim the bits off the front/back i dont want and what i have left can be just saved without all the processing milarky?
thank you.

When you trim or edit a video, the software needs to re-render the whole video.
This can take some time.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -
Have a look at http://www.doeasier.org/splitter/ ... it's not terribly accurate but might be worth trying.
No re-encoding needed either!0 -
this (free download) program allows triming at start/end before re-coding - very simple, but very limited also. Very robust software used by millions.
good luck0 -

I used to use a program called Womble video editor. I've had it years and I'm sure it was shareware. Just Googled it and it's a full commercial product these days but still only $19. I never bothered to upgrade it because it just worked so there was no need.

In simple terms there was a small viewing window and a timeline with a slider.
I used it to edit out the adverts of stuff I wanted to keep. Move the slider to the start of the ads and mark it, then move the slider to the end of the ads and mark again then use the cut too to remove the ads.
There was no re-encoding so the edit was instant. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
thanks guys.
i really should have been clearer in my OP.
i have flv files that i was encoding to mpeg files and was looking to edit the mpeg.
having looked again i found editing the flv before changing to mpeg gave me more options.
'flv editor lite' does the job.0
