Hi,
I'm looking for a simple, free text to speech program. I would like one where you just highlight text on a page and have it read to you. but I don't really mind if I have to copy and paste. can anyone recommend one please.

There's a free version of NaturalReader here at the link below, which is okay (although the paid-for version sounds a lot better).

Text-speach capability was also built into the Amiga 500 back in 1993...
The windows engine is pretty loudsy, best on the market is AT&T.

ringo is right AT&T do seem to be the best at voice synthesising. I remember they used an AT&T voice in the film "Red Planet" for the voice of the computer "Lucille". I seem to recall it was very realistic, and until I learned otherwise, thought it was the voice of a real person."She is quite the oddball.
