Help choosing a Greek Island please.

We are thinking we may go to a Greek Island this summer. We love the long, wide sandy beach at Alcudia in Majorca.
I would like recommendations for a similar beach please, it HAS to be sandy as DH has a foot problem. He can't do shingle or pebbles.
Also need a reasonable resort as we like to have a walk around and have a nosey at the shops, stop for coffee and look at the surrounding areas etc.

Have you considered Turkey, very close to the Greek Islands and many ancient sites that are very well preserved, but quite a bit cheaper than Greece. The Aegean Region of Turkey overlooks the Greek islands of samos, lesbos, cos and many others. We holiday in the resort of Kusadasi, it has miles of beautiful sandy beaches, lots of lovely coffee and tea shops and the ancient site of Ephesus is close by. I do love Greece but since going to Turkey I now prefer my Turkish holidays instead.0

My favourite island for sandy beaches is Skiathos. Small and easy to get around by public transport, hire car or boat and plenty of places to eat and drink. The buses are an experience.
I think all of the beaches on Skiathos are sandy and there are around 60 of them - some get busy and some don't - it depends what you want.
It's a bit more expensive than some of the other island to get to but well worth it. It's lovely.

I've been to Mykonos, Paros and Sifnos. Mykonos is much more developed tourist-wise than the others, but has a "party" reputation. We were on a cruise so didn't do much more than visit during the daytime. Paros had a lovely beach near the port and town. Sifnos was more rural, we hired a car for the day there. I've also heard Santorini is lovely, especially the towns, but I'm not sure about wide, sandy beaches there. Alternatively, look at Skiathos, where Mamma Mia was filmed.
Hope this helps!
