Hi,
Looking for some help please!
Am getting a train to London Paddington this week, arriving around 8/9am and need to get to St.Pancreas. Not sure whether we will be going by tube or cab for the journey as my DH is scared of the tube!!
Please can you tell me how long it should take around this time on a week day to get between the 2 stations if we take the tube or cab?
Many Thanks in advance!

20 mins by tube (need to change tubes) or 40 mins by bus (205 takes you all the way).0

The tube journey is Circle (Yellow colour on tube maps) or District (Green) to Edgware Station get off and change to Hammersmith & City Line (Pinkish).
It will take about 25 mins door to door including walking
Or if you want a bus take the 205 from bus stop H which takes about 40 minutes door to door
A taxi would cost about £15 give or take and will take about around 10 and 20 minutes

If the times work you can get a Hammersmith and City line tube all the way so no need to change - trains are every 7-11 minutes between 6 and 10 a.m.

I would be wary of relying on overground journey times at that time of day as it's right in the middle of morning rush hour(s).0 -
I would also add that if you take the tube, it is not a deep level route with claustrophobic trains- the trains on the route are in fact slightly wider that standard UK trains.0

During the week get off the train at Paddington, go up the stairs onto the overbridge and follow the signs to the Hammersmith and City line platforms. The platform you need is the furthest away (highest number).
From stepping off the train at Paddington you should be back onboard a train at St. Pancras or Kings Cross in 25 minutes.0 -
I used to do this every day. 205 bus is nice and takes about 30/40 min at that time of day. It also starts at Paddington so you'll get seats. Underground - use the H & C line as stated but it will be PACKED before 9am. Remember, you need tickets in advance for both.
If there are two of you I'd be tempted to take the taxi. Should be around the £13 mark (which is about £4 more than the tube) but is hassle-free if not money-saving.
Under no circumstances take a taxi from a "tout" on the station (likely to cost you £50). Get a proper cab, either from the rank there, or by wandering up to Praed Street and hailing one. Taxis are available if their orange "Taxi" light is on.Can I help?0 -
Good point about the tube being packed, the other sardines in the tin will not look kindly on you if you turn up with luggage!0
