No easy answer as it depends on where you live, how much Gas/Electricity you use and method of payment.
Generally you will not go far wrong with Ebico.
Some tariffs have a daily standing charge(e.g 15 pence) regardless of how much you use.
Others get you to pay extra for the first units you use in a quarter(called tier 1). This normally comes to about the same amount of money.
The exception is Ebico who charge neither.0 -
I have been with Ebico for a couple of years for my gas and 8 months for my electricity, the billing and customer service is done by southern electric in my area, the service has been excellent and the prices are very cheap compared to my previous gas and electricity provider (british gas)
Call them if you want more information before making a choice. Look here for their contact telephone number and address :

I would recommend them without hesitation.0 -
Personally I would go with Scottish & Southern.
Why??
1)Excellent service rating in comparison to most other providers
2)They have just announced a price decrease
3) British owned
However much you use or how you pay you wont go far wrong with these.
Most consistent provider when it comes to price..
Sold this i guess!!

I agree they are very good. Got my gas bill last week which was vastly over-estimated. Just phoned their meter line and left the actual reading, new bill received within a few days and I popped a cheque in the post straightaway. Very simple and I find much better than direct debit - hate other people messing about with my bank account!!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I can recommend Ebico, their accounts are run through Southern Electric's Scottish based CS, excellent service and good, stable prices.
They seem to be overlooked, deliberately? by some comparison sites, possibly cos they wont cough up fees?
As an example even Energywatch does not appear to mention them, stating BG's March prices as the cheapest.
Yet the average gas bill for UK homes using 20,500 Kws a year, with Ebico/Equigas, would cost £523, still beating BG's New March 2007 cheapest tariff, even if Ebico do not respond
