apparently not, I already have the app and the books and when I looked this morning there was an update available, I looked at the reviews before I updated it and I'm glad I did. People have said that it deletes all the books already downloaded and then you have to pay for each one if you want them back.
so if you already have the app, DO NOT download the update!!0 -

Hmm - that's odd. I bought the app (with books for free) yesterday, then updated this morning and all are still there.0 -
SYNC WITH ITUNES before updating then they should be in your itunes account ready to transfer back, if there are any problems with the update.0

The update can remove the books but just go to restore and it re-downloads the books you had already (including any you got for free)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
