Money for Water Tank - getting central heating

Hi,

sorry if this is in the wrong place. if the board guides think it will get better response please move.

i'm thinking of getting central heating. I live in a terraced house and would need 7 radiators and a boiler which would heat the heaters and the water (dont know if this is what's called a combi boiler).

At the moment i just have an old fashioned immersion heater and a baxi gas heater installed on the landing upstairs. So, I've looked on the web and any boiler scrappage schemes are now finished, but i don't know if I would have got one anyway, but do you think I'd get anything for the water tanks I have. i have one of the old brass (I think) water tanks, i should get a few quid for that shouldn't I? It will just help towards the cost of the new heating as although I haven't got a quote yet, i have a bit of an idea how much it will cost and it is a bit of a stretch, so as tesco's says, every little will help.

Does anyone know of any grants/help etc which I could get. i've never qualified for anything as I'm now back at work, live on my own with no kids, so no benefits etc.

Thanks

Wuzz

An old copper hot water cylinder will get you a few quid, depends on the weight (a lot of it will probably be scale though),
Get quoted from 2 local independent GSR RGI's.
What makes you think you want a combi as opposed to a conventional boiler? A combi does away with stored DHW and heats it only on demand. A conventional system retains a hot water tank.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
