    It could be the linkage, but they tend to be consistently poor, rather than intermittent. It doesn't tend to make the box crunch, more just can't find the gears easily.

    Part of the Furniture 500 Posts Combo Breaker
    I did change the oil on a Ford Mondeo manual box and it made a big difference, much smoother.
    Google gives you answers use it.........
