Northern Rock Mortgage with PPI

Is it too late make a claim from Northern Rock for a mortgage policy with PPI repayments held from January 1992 to 2006 when the remainder of the mortgage was repaid in full? If I can, do I necessarily need a third party to handle the claim for me? Is there a template letter I can use to make a claim?

Timescale is irrelevant. Your reason for complaint and evidence to support it (if its a non-factual complaint) is relevant. However, it is possible that destroying of documents could be an issue.
If I can, do I necessarily need a third party to handle the claim for me?

Why would you want to pay someone to use the free-of-charge complaints process when that third party has to tell them what your complaint is? You have to tell the claims company what is wrong unless you are planning on making a fraudulent complaint.
Is there a template letter I can use to make a claim?

There are some complaint letters but be wary as complaint template letters (which is what most claims companies use) tend to have lower success rates as many people forget to edit them and leave totally irrelevant reasons in them.

You start by deciding why you were mis-sold. You tell the company why you think you were mis-sold. If it is is technical failing (such as single premium and added to mortgage) then you state that. You dont need evidence as they can see it for themselves. If it is an eligibility issue (such as impaired health) then you say what your medical issue is and they will see if you would have been covered. If its a financial need issue (i.e. you had 6 months full pay, 6 months half pay) then you state that as the reason. If you have proof then you supply it but if you dont, be prepared to supply it if you asked.

if you are coming up with some verbal allegation to which you have no proof then you will need something stronger than that with most banks.

We can help you here if you tell us why you think you were mis-sold

nothing wrong with having insurance to cover your most important asset.
  • Who sold you the policy. If it was not actually Northern Rock themselves you may have a problem.
