How do I work out my holiday entitlement?

    I've been in my current job for nearly 10 years. Not looked at my contract since I started the job, will see if I've still got it somewhere.
    And you have been doing the 4 day week for 10 years or this is a new working week? Surely if it's not new you know what holiday you had last holiday year?

    My employer did say 23 days to begin with, then cameback to me with the 20.8 or 21 days. I did say I worked it out at 22.4 and was told how it was worked out very quickly, but didn't understand it tbh. My employment always work bank holidays and we don't get the extra days back. My employer did say something about that they always give us an extra 2 days off at xmas and new year too, while I was querying the AL figure. But regrardless of this then I would have thought they'd still need to give me my minimum AL entitlement.

    It sounds to me like it could be that you get 21 days plus the days for Christmas and New Year. You have to keep those days back, so there are only 21 days that you can choose to take off, but your entitlement is higher.

    As above, it seems to me that you are getting 21 days that you can book off yourself and 2 days at Christmas that are booked for you so making a total of 23;)

    What holiday does a full timer get

    include any BH and extra days not include in the normal allowance

    pro rata that.


    remove any days you get fixed(check each year) and thts what's left

    Exactly so. The OP almost said as much themselves when she said "My employer did say something about that they always give us an extra 2 days off at xmas and new year too".

    You are getting the right leave so no need to question it further with the employer.
  • Thanks for all your responses. I'm quite happy to leave it as it is, as I know I get the extra days at xmas. I've not worked 4 days a week throughout my time in my current employment, as been on maternity leave twice and returned working fewer hours, so not usually had the same AL consistently. Thanks again. :)
