Vista to XP or Win 7 home prem 64bit

I have a laptop running vista home prem and thought about either putting it to XP I have a disc and a key BUT^ it is NOT a Dell OS disc! does this matter?
I also have a windows 7 disc which is running on my desktop which is a dell OS disc
Laptop spec is
AMD Tution 64 x2 mobile tech. TL- 52 1.60 GHz
memory ram 2.00 GB 32 - biy OS
Is there anything else i need to write.

You can only use the XP disc if it is a full retail version that is not currently installed on another machine. If it is an OEM disc from another manufacturer, you cannot use it.

You cannot use the Windows 7 disc from your desktop to install a second copy of Windows on your laptop as it is against the terms of the licence

In addition to Figment's response which I agree with, you need to look in the Dell support site for your laptop to check whether Dell supports either XP or 7 with the appropriate drivers.
