Exactly, have you been driving it with tax expired or was it parked on a road maintained by public money whilst tax expired? Or was it off road

So you missed out November tax, because you were taxed for October and December?

They were very quick with the letters. What dates were all the letters?
You've had 3 right? and what does each letter say?

If you don't give all the information the answers you recieve could land you in hot water.

The storage space for SORN does not have to be private land, all it has to be is a place which is not a road maintained at public expense

Surely, declaring a car SORNED when you have been driving it would be fraud? Is that what some posters are suggesting? If so, that is outrageous advice, and could lead the OP into seriously hot water. At the moment it is a simple administration of a trifling £80 penalty; don't risk escalating this into a big deal by lying - just pay it.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

It's a bit more complicated than that. When making my first post I assumed that the OP hadn't been using the car in the gap but had possibly neglected to send the SORN, in which case my advice stands - especially given the absurdity of the SORN system in the first place!

On the other hand, if he had been using it he'd run the risk of them having evidence (photos / ANPR hits / whatever) that the car was on road. In which case he'd be liable for making a false SORN declaration which is probably worse than he's facing now.

If it went to court he'd then also commit perjury if he told the court that he sent in an untrue declaration when he hadn't.

    I was driving the car..

But that month is now backpaid, so I don't really see the big deal?

Sorry, I thought you had been driving a SORNED car - which would have been a big deal if you'd been caught.

You wouldn't have back paid for November. But as you haven't told us the whole story we don't know what has happened and any advice given so far on this thread should be ignored......

except ........ "just pay the fine" <<<<You should take that advice seriously.

No, I didn't SORN it or PAY.. I was late paying by a little over a month..

So I'm being fined for declaring to SORN..

I just received a letter from Philips Bailiffs demanding payment.. I guess the steer is to just pay it?

What I want to know is if this has already negatively impacted my credit scoring or anything else?

When you have said EXACTLY what has happened so far, dates of expiry, dates of payment, tax disc valid from which date, what each and every letter has said specifically. What dates you were driving the car where it was parked etc etc etc

Then you might get some meaningful advice, until then you're wasting your time.

However, if all you care about is your credit score, then in all likelyhood there has not yet been a case against you in court, which means your credit score is unaffected by this. If you pay up it all goes away. If you are thinking of not paying then you should provide all the facts so that people can tell you whether it is a good idea and what to expect.
