Hi

I wanted to know if anyone could please provide me with a website where you can find out what the national average gas consumption is for a two bedroom house? I just wanted to get a rough idea of whether I am on par with everyone else?

Thanks

Where do you live? Location is very important.

This PDF document http://www.decc.gov.uk/assets/decc/11/stats/publications/energy-trends/articles/3922-subnational-gas-cons-stats-2010.pdf shows on the last page that people in Scotland use around 21,000kWh and people in the South West use around 11,000kWh. The average being about 16,500kWh. It's not broken down by bedrooms so you need to make a guess compared to an average property yourself. Probably 80% of the average for your area.

For a house with gas CH and DHW, use 15,000 kWh for the comp sites.

But there really is no average, as a study of this board will reveal..

    Thanks that's quite interesting.

Npower have predicted that I will use 13386 over the year and I am in the South. My new bill consists of £66 for gas each month. Does this seem about right to anyone else in a similar situation out there??

Since we don't know your tariff or region, no-one can say. But 13,386 kWh should be around £541pa or £45pm on GoFix10. A comp site will tell you.

Thanks for replying Macman. I am in Hampshire on an IGT network, and the moneysupermarket website said that all the other companies would charge me more than what I am with with Npower :o(

    Thanks though.

Gofix10 is a npower tariff. You will save a bit compared to your current tariff. £45 is much better than £66.
