Halifax Mortgage Help Please with PPI claim

In 1995 my wife and I took out a mortgage with Halifax which they insisted my wife took out PPI protection because she wasn't working and she also had to have a medical. They said we could not have the mortgage without this. On or around 15 years later we paid this mortgage off early. I know that I did not get any refund for early payment. Can anyone advise me whether I have a claim for repayment of my PPI. I am now a pensioner on state pension and my wife has since past away. I am in possession of the Mortgage Deed but unfortunately have mislaid all other documents relating to this mortgage. Any information you can give would be very much appreciated.

You say it was MPPI but MPPI didnt exist in 1995. It would have been life assurance, PHI or ASU (ASU being the equivalent to what MPPI is today). The fact she had a medical and wasnt working would suggest it was either life assurance or more likely PHI (permanant health insurance). It wouldnt have been ASU (or MPPI) because neither of those underwrite at point of sale. Can anyone advise me whether I have a claim for repayment of my PPI.They said we could not have the mortgage without this.
Quite possibly the case in 1995. Many deals back then often insisted on an insurance product. Some still do today and that is allowed. Even if they didnt insist on it and you were told incorrectly or rather you believe you were told this, what evidence do you have to support your verbal allegation?
Given the fact what you describe doesn't sound like MPPI or ASU, then making a complaint about MPPI is likely to be futile. If you didnt have the product then it is an easy rejection for them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
