Well done you! That's great news! So jealous but soon will be in the same boat as you :) xxx
Life is too short not to love what you do.
  • Well done you.

I've never even thought about reducung the mortgage to interest only and paying the rest off the debt. Is this a 'normal' thing for DFW's to do? Is it worth it in the end as you either end up increasing the term on your mortgage or paying higher monthyl amounts?

It fits in with the general principle of debt repayment. Pay down the highest APR first ***

So, if you have a 5% mortgage and a 15% credit card, you put the mortgage on IO if you can and you pay down the 15% card. But if you have interest free credit cards, you put the mortgage on repayment and overpay if you can, servicing the 0% cards with minimum payments only - being sure you can clear them when you 0% ends.

[*** Occasionally you see debt situations where things are really tight, but there is a loan with not so long to go. In these cases, it can be worth paying down the loan before higher APR debt, just to get some slack into the situation]
