The OR has no influence over whether Paypal let you have/keep an account.
Your bankruptcy is a matter of public record. All banks trawl the bankruptcy notices on a weekly basis and regularly "freeze" or close accounts, often before the OR has even started contacting your creditors.
You would be better to speak to Paypal, although I'm not sure how flexible they will be. They do have a track record of arbitrary account closures. However, removing facilities from someone who is bankrupt is not arbitrary - it's quite often part of a companies business model to reduce their exposure to risk.Toiletries challenge - Start 362 Current 329£10 a day in Feb - £70.79/£2800 -
Were you using a personal PayPal account for business use? If so, then I wonder if it's as simple as they found that out and on that basis I believe they will close an account.
Definitely worth getting in touch with PayPal and just asking why the account has been closed and if there is anything you can do to reopen it etc. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

It was used for both business and personal INAN, mainly business (for our online sales, which is just part of what we do).
I had an account that was geared up for business use and they said on the phone it was specifically because of the bankruptcy. It's like talking to a brick wall though - "computer says no" and all that.
I fired off a formal complaint because of the way they handled it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I wonder in that case if it was closed because you had a business account with them and banks will not allow business accounts during BR year? I know that my personal PayPal account was unaffected by my BR.When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Any of those reasons would have been fine if they'd just tell me straight. But, they've handled the whole thing pretty badly.
The actual limitation on the account states it has happened because of an error with the address on a cheque withdrawal.
1. I didn't do a cheque withdrawal.
2. There is no address error.

Maybe they just don't have a check box for "BR" so the admin picked something else instead...
You have your reason now anyway because you rang them. It's unfortunate but as it was a business account I can see why they closed it.When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN
