Paypal account closed

Paypal have closed my account after being informed by the OR about my bankruptcy.

I gave the OR no details about my Paypal account as it is not technically a bank account, nor was it requested.

!!!!!! is wrong with these people?

Paypal can hold a very large amount of money..so the fact you could well have hidden a large amount of £££ in paypal just might have something to do with it.

Also the fact many people can earn a good second income from selling on ebay and similar sites..use paypal as the "Bank" and OF never gets to know of it.

Was wondering how they found out but i suppose it would be from bank statements.

I had £5.42 in the account.

As far as I'm aware there are no limitations on my bankruptcy saying that I cannot legitimately use Paypal as part of my business, or that I can't sell some old CDs or other crap on eBay if I want.

You will have a card, either debit or credit, linked to your Paypal account. There's nothing wrong with these people.

A debit card, yes. Crime of the century.

I'll speak to the OR on Monday. I told him during the meeting that we use PP for a certain aspect of our business income and he made no mention of any problems with it. If he decides we can't use it then that's one thing, but the way PP handled closing my account is crap to say the least. At least with the banks I got a letter!

Funny thing is on the phone, the guy insisted that Paypal are a bank, even though they've denied this in the past.

The amount of complaints to them regarding arbitrary closure of accounts (and keeping the money) is huge. If they are a real bank they need to start acting like one.

...mind you, maybe acting like a real bank isn't such a great idea on reflection.
