About this time last year I set up an A & L Premier Direct account for my parents along with the plussaver account.

As they are not computer literate I have always logged on checked statements etc... To log on I have always used my Dads usernumber and password and kept this in a safe place.

In the middle of Jan my Dad passed away and all the necessary people have been notified etc... However I logged in still using his details tonight and it shows me the current account but there is no sign of the plussaver even existing! It had quite a lot of money in it so before I go asking Mum to dig out her old details and chasing up A & L can someone please tell me that the only reason I cant see the plussaver is because it cant be accessed with Dads details anymore!!(He prays) I obviously dont want to start mum worrying more than she already is about everything.

Surely this is the case right?

The savings and current accounts are actually on two different databases. It may simply be that the savings department has acted upon the notification of your Dads death quicker than the current account department. If you went into a branch and notified the staff there, they could actually action the savings but not the current account. A call to telephone banking to ask what's happening with the accounts should clear it all up.
