  • I can transfer money during the weekend - Lloyd TSB.

I bet it is within Lloyds TSB. I paid with Lloyds TSB direct debit card last Friday and it did nor arrive with Sainsbury until Tuesday.

    :(

Many thanks to everyone for their input. :)

(FWIW the money is showing in my N Rock account but is not yet cleared.)

Ive done 2 FP's today, both went through ok.

FP from Santander to HSBC and FP from HSBC to Natwest
(in both transfers the money got credited to available balance today).

As atush said it all depends who you bank with.

You have to feel sorry for the little IT gnomes. In the (g)olden days they had all weekend to polish the computer valves and test that everything was working OK for Monday morning. Now customers seem to expect them to keep things switched on 24-7 and do all the critical upgrades on the fly.

That's becase we are now a 24hr 7 day week society.Banks (and people) need to move with the times or get caught behind in the stampede.

Well FWIW I was not far wrong in my thread title! Not much point transferring over the weekend, yes my cash was sent via Natwest to N Rock but it is still sitting there uncleared so for all intents and purposes it would have made little difference had I waited until Monday to do the transfer! :o

So in the case of Natwest and N Rock my thread title seems quite accurate!

It does not matter on what day the transfer is done to Virgin/NR it will not show as cleared funds till 24 hours later,i called them last week and that was their answer,by the way there is no max on what you can transfer out of NR

Well I have just checked again and the amount has still not cleared and it's now well over 24hours, so it appears that weekend transfers are not governed by the same times scales as working day ones.

I think they should change the system. I can make payments/transfers any day of the week with any bank i'm with. Santander seem to be the slowest for clearing.

Anyway, i think Saturday should also be a clearing day. It's a post day. Banks are open on a Saturday (if not all then most). Sunday - fair enough, but i think Saturday should be considered like Mon-Fri.
