Hi I wonder if anybody can tell me if there is any difference between RG 59 & RG 59U re CCTV applications ?

You will find the U has a higher percentage of braid and therefore lower loss. It'll probably have a foil under the braid wrapped round the inner insulator as well. Won't be much of a difference over 30ft but there will over 100ft.0

There is no extra shielding on RG 59U, if you need lower loss cable then go for RG 6.
R = Radio frequency
G = Government
59 = Government assigned approval number
U = Universal specification
If the letters A, B or C appear before the slash (/) it indicates a specification modification or revision. As an example, RG 59/U is superseded by RG 59A/U.
