Liverpool Victoria Household Insurance

Hi
Has anyone taken out a buildings and contents insurance with them before?
It's just that I've done an internet search and then used Martin's recommended scrapers and they come out very cheap.
My renewal from my broker was about £480, which I knew would be beaten by most of the internet insurance providers. But Liverpool Victoria came out with £240.
Even Barclays with their 'beat the renewal' offer only came up with £680.
So what's happening?

Hi
We put our details through confused.com and they came out the cheapest for more cover than we had previously. We have buildings and contents insurance with them.0 -
Well I've taken out buildings & contents with them, unfeasibly low premiums. I've checked the online policy documents and everything seems ok.
However they don't ask the normal questions, like how long I've had insurance, whether I've claimed, criminal convictions etc etc like all the other sites do.
So does this mean that they don't really care or are just taking any business and does that bode well for the future viability of the company.0 -
Liv Vic hasbeen around for years, originally as a Friendly Society and is a very big and substantial organisation. They have a large clientele via affinty groups like civil servants, via Civil Service Motoring Association. Thy also own a large broker, Frizzell, which is involved heavily in that side of their business.
With its pedigree I would not be as concerned about its viabilty as with some.0 -
My dad you with Liverpool & Victoria up until a month ago but now he has cancelled his policy and moved elsewhere due to the fact that just before Christmas he put in a claim the roof had been leaking following high wind and heavy rain. Liverpool & Victoria sent out someone to look at the roof and the next thing he heard was no they where not going to pay out as they had check there weather database and were unaware of any storms in the area around the time the damage was done. My dad got a independent roofer out to take a look and he say it was deffiantly storm damage, Liverpool and Victoria where not interested and there decision stood.0

I've had buildings and contents insurance with them for the past few years, their premiums are very good compared to others. Also I like the fact that they offer blanket cover - up to £500,000 for building and up to £125,000 for contents - so you don't have to try and work out rebuilding costs and value of your goods etc yourself.
Mind, I have never had to make a claim from them, but hopefully it would be OK if I did.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I'm not with them now as I mo longer require the levsl of cover. However when I moved house 4+ years ago the removal firm damaged our dining suite. I had accidental damage cover. LV dealt with it very efficiently and at renewal there was no question of a premium loading. Also in thattime whwre you are under contravt to buy they fid not ask for affional money to vover both the old and the new property, or make any other admin charges.melbury wrote:I've had buildings and contents insurance with them for the past few years, their premiums are very good compared to others. I have just found them the cheapest reputable company too using Martin's tips, £368 for renewal with zurich, £223 with Liverpool Vic.
Even with quidco offers I can't do better than that so I will be swopping to them ASAP!0
