Temporary Eon tariff
Hi all,
I am currently considering whether to switch from Eon to OVO.
However, in the meantime I am on the Eon EnergyPlan and I was wondering is there a tariff available with them that I could move on to until the potential switch occurs (which can take 6 weeks) that would be cheaper than what I am on now and I could still switch supplier without incurring any fee.
The Track and Save 11 seems to be ideal I can't see any cancellation fee mentioned and I just want to make sure that if I do go on to it then I won't be tied in and jeopardise my potential changeo of supplier.

If Ovoworks out cheaper for you based on your consumption, then go for it.
Track and Save says in its terms and conditions with regards to the discounts:The [discount] guarantee applies to customers with unrestricted meters with average annual electricity usage of 3,300 units and above, with Economy 7 meters with average annual electricity usage of 2,250 day units and 2,750 night units and above, and/or average annual gas usage of 16,500 units and above. If you leave E.ON before 31 January 2013 you will not receive discounts on your final bill which may mean that this bill is not cheaper than a BG standard bill.
If you only want it temporary it's not worth doing for six weeks and not worth it at all if you don't use that much electricity. You may as well just start a switch to Ovo today.0 -

I am going to start the switch but I was just meaning to switch to a cheaper Eon tariff for the 6 weeks up until the switch occurs.
Does it not seem worthwhile even if I won't get the discount on my final bill as the unit price is cheaper? And maybe a standard BG bill is cheaper than the Eon Energyplan one would be?0 -

Personally I wouldn't bother. As stated you wouldn't get the discount on the final bill and the figures are therefore billed at the normal rate, which appears to be the British Gas standard tariff.
For the sake of six weeks, I wouldn't worry. You will probably save more long-term with Ovo over 12 months compared to your current tariff than you would if you were to extrapolate up from a short-term period snapshot.0 -

So in effect the fact I don't get discount means I will be billed as though I am on the EnergyPlan anyway?0 -
Another thing I should point out is that my annual usage last year was above the amounts stated in the T's & C's - is it still worth just staying on the EnergyPlan until I switch rather than changing to Track and Save 11?0

Actually, just done a comparison based on my consumption between Eon EnergyPlan and BG standard and BG standard is slightly more expensive.
So, if I switch to Track and Save 11 and then leave (hence not getting the discounts), I run the risk of my bill actually being more than the EnergyPlan that I am currently on.
Does that sound correct?
If so, as suggested I may not take the risk for 6 weeks and just apply for a switch to OVO tomorrow.0
