Ebay is a veritable goldmine for nearly new stuff.
You'll get far better value for money than if you bought new at that price.
I got a big corner sofa for £250 which was £700 new from Ikea. I sold it 6 months later for £300

hi there we hve just bought a new house and also after sofa and other furniture. About a year ago homebase where doing a 10percent off offer for first time buyers - anyone know if they still are?
thanks0 -
freecycle - google it
e-bay, go for "pick up only" (kinda obvious for a sofa) reduces the number of people you're competing with - pay with cash when you pick it up & have checked it out.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

Absolutely! There's no risk there - all transactions on furniture for me have been cash on collection so you get a chance to see what you're buying anyway. Everyone I've met that way have been lovely people!
You'd be missing out big time by being that cynical, OP!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
