Once you get it under control with the creams, ruining clothes is the worst part, especially if you're using betnovate C which stains everything yellow.
I should buy shares in whoever makes Tesco Value Pyjamas, but this is how I keep the cost down. Try to get to a point where you can do it once a day or less frequently, in order to save your nice clothes.0 -
One of the best things for getting an eczema flare-up under control is peat cutting.... YES I KNOW IT SOUNDS INSANE.
Ive struggled with eczema for 14 years, and tried all the creams and anti histamine...(none are that effective). I basically decided that though it was no doubt going to mess up my skin further (Because of the acidity) that I had to cut peat or I was going to freeze to death with the electricity prices! So I started cutting expecting the worst to follow.... but my skin improved! And Ive had far fewer flare-ups since (its not a cure... but it seems it massively more effective as a treatment that any of the crap I got from the doctor).
I really wish someone would research this, as its probably something to do with specific oils in the peat.
I know this is only going to be of help to a few, lucky enough to live near peat banks... however if anyone wants to come to the Isle of Lewis in April- May and help me cut mine, I do have spare rooms!0 -
DH reckons you are just out for free labour with your peat cutting! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0

Just an update to say I got referred to a dermatologist when I saw a locum today. :j He also gave me Flexitol (?) to use on my finger that has a big crack in it that is struggling to heal. Keeps cracking open everytime I move my finger!!!
Never heard of it, he said it was a relatively new thing. Anyone used this on sore cracks in the skin?~

Googled this and came up with:
Flexitol Very Dry Skin Cream is the medically proven treatment for very dry skin conditions including Anhydrotic skin or Xerosis
Hope it helps while you are waiting to see dermatologist.
Fingers crossed the waiting list is not too long. Good luck0 -
Hi, both me and my son use the body shop hemp range - there's one for dry skin when it really flares up.
My son gets it quite often on his face and the hemp face cream is wonderful and he's had no reaction from it at all.
If you ask, you should be able to have a free sample pot to give it a try.
Hope that helps - I really do recommend it. xx0
