Problems returning faulty item to Amazon - Help!

Hi, I bought a dehumidifier from an Amazon seller in November 2009. It recently developed a fault (it does not collect water, I think it is a problem with the refrigerating unit). From reading Martin's consumer rights guide, I believe that I have recourse to return the item as faulty as it has not lasted for a reasonable length of time.
However, Amazon have advised me that they will not accept a return as it is outside of the 1 year warranty period. I explained my consumer rights and they would not budge.
I then thought that I may be able to claim from my credit card company under Section 75. However, from reading Martin's guide, I do not think this is possible as I bought it from an Amazon seller, therefore, the credit card contract is via a third party and Section 75 does not apply.
Is anyone able to give me advise on firstly if I am being reasonable in expecting a dehumidifier to last for more than 2 years; and if so, where do I go from here?
Many thanks for looking.

I do not think you have a leg to stand on. YOU would have to be able to demonstrate that the item was faulty when you bought it (which I doubt you can do). You MAY be able to get a partial refund/repair through the courts.0

After six months the onus is on you to demonstrate the failure of the product was due to an inherent fault, rather than though misuse. This can be done with an independent engineers report (the cost of which you can reclaim if it supports your case). If you can demonstrate that it's inherently faulty, they must replace/repair/refund. Note that a replacement can be a working replacement of similar age to yours, and a refund can be partial to account for the use you have had out of it.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0
