Skype hardware

I've just downloaded Skype at the request of my folks but I don't have a web cam- can someone recommend one to me. I use a PC with a widescreen 22" monitor. Do they come with built in microphones, otherwise I will need this as well- basically I need the hardware.

You need a webcam, most include the mic - of course you need speakers too.

I went through 3 webcams before I found one that was good in different light conditions. The cheap ones from PCWorld were dreadful, and were returned - in many ways you get what you pay for

I've got good external speakers.

You were too quick. The same one is £12.99 in PC World and Currys.

I've got the same one and am very pleased with it.

Ha ha! I've just checked online and there are sold aout as well.

Look out for Microsoft branded ones that have built in mic, saves 1 lead - the mic in the one we have is good at a distance.

I bought the Logitech C270 HD Webcam few weeks ago and I’m more than happy with it – both image and sound quality are superb even at low light and 2 meters distance.
