How long from landing to exiting terminal at luton airport?

Options
Hi,

I'm flying into Luton airport and I've just been organising my onward travel by coach. My flight is due to land at 18.50. I was a bit absent minded and booked my coach for 19.25. Assuming my flight is on time is there any way I can make it off the plane and out the terminal in 35 minutes? The next coach isn't until 21.25, but at least my bus ticket is changeable. Should I change it?

Thanks!

  • Are you checking luggage? If not, you might just make it, the airport is not massive. If you need to change your ticket in advance (i.e. you can't get on the later bus if you miss the booked one), I would change it.

It also depends how many flights come in at around the same time as yours - the passport control lines can be long at Luton if there are more than a couple of flights in at the same time.

Also depends how long it take for you get off the plane, how close you are sitting to the exit.

I think it's best to change it for peace of mind, so you won't have to constantly checking the time and not rush and worry.

I'd say there's a fair chance that you'll miss it, the plane could be late in, you could have to wait for a gate, you might have to be bussed from a distant part of the airport.

I presume you are not going into London, as all of the services I looked at run more frequently than your times indicate. If you tell us which service it is you never know, we might be able to come up with an earlier alternative than 21:25.

And my onward travel is to cambridge, which is why the bus is only every two hours :(

And I won't be checking luggage!

Inverness? What's the weather like, if it's bad there could be a delay in take off.

As I said, I think it's safer to catch the later coach, then you can relax!

Does it need to be changed in advance? if not you could chance it and change it to the later one on the night if you miss the earlier one.

Maybe not, National Express (who run the service the OP is booked on) say this:

What should I do if I miss my coach?
If you miss your coach, your ticket will no longer be valid and a new ticket must be purchased if you wish to travel on a later service.

Or maybe yes, as they also say:

What should I do if my flight is delayed?
We recommend booking a coach which departs at least 1 hour 30 minutes after you are due to land. If your flight is delayed, we will try to accommodate you on a later departure, subject to an amendment charge and seat availability.

The amendment change is £5 plus any difference in the fare.
