Barclaycard - What a joke!!!

Have today received my Barclaycard and, on a joint salary of £56k they only deem us worthy of £440 credit limit!!!!!!!!!
I spose that's our fault for having no debt, no loans etc. Well, when I stop laughing I'll be sending that straight back with a stroppy letter. What a waste of 4 weeks of my time!!!

I don't think Barclays appreciate the bad feeling associated with their credit limits.
Me & my partner have held separate current accounts with Barclays for 15 years and I said I will only change bank accounts when they p*ss me off.
Well a combined credit limit of £4,600 has p*ssed me off so we are both moving are current accounts to a different bank.
Shame really that the actions of one part of Barclays has resulted in our termination of accounts we have held for so long. Still we gave them plenty of notice of our intentions, our complaint no doubt lost/covered up in the endless pile of other complaints. I'm curious to know if anyone actually audits the complaints department because ours was handled with little care.0 -

If i applied for a cc now and received that as a credit limit i'd be more than happy, instead i get offered new cards of £2000.00 and still can't afford to pay them back!!
I hate CC's and want to punch any rep from the company's that try to get you to apply for one these days, i've never been in so much debt in my life thanks to these things.
I understand you earn a lot of money but if thats the case what the eck do you need one for ?
Me and my partner earn half of that and are struggling here.0 -
Cee,
I think an awful lot of what you see on the credit card forum is about manipulating cards to take advantage of them. If you are struggling with debts you may want to ask for some advice of the "loans and debts" forum or start a new thread here and I'm sure we can offer some help.0 -
Don't need to thanks to this site i'm getting sorted, it was a heat of the moment post i guess, but from past experiences, i just don't see how you can get any deal from any credit company?
I've a new outlook in life now, don't consolidate, deal then don't borrow!
Sorry for misposting anyway - pls don't hate me0 -
"pls don't hate me"
A bit of an extreme reaction to any post I'd say! Glad to hear things are on the up.
Once you are in a position with your debt and spending under control credit cards do allow a great deal of opportunity for making and or/saving money.
For example, if you have a card and set up a direct debit for the full amount to paid each month it is possible to get a percentage cashback on all your purchases. No debts building up, no risk, very little effort and free money in the bank. Of course, as in all things one size rarely fits all and to do this you need to be sure that you won't be encouraged to overspend but, if you spent £1000 per month on a credit card you could have an extra £100 per year for nothing.0 -

If someone is offering me their money to use for a year interest free, why use my own? My savings sit in the BS earning a paltry sum for the year and I pay it off at the year's end. THAT's why I want one. Want and need are two very different thingsRegards
