Parcel to Canada

I am selling a pair of trainer, the auction ends tomorrow.
Now, at the last minute a prospective bidder from Canada asks if I can ship to Canada and of course, what the postage will be.
He has asked for a cheap service, Royal Mail Surface Mail or Airmail Small package if possible.
I had allowed for UK postage, in a shoe box, but sending to Canada, I assume would be cheaper just wrapped in bubblewrap and brown tape.
The parcel weighs just under 500g and dimensions are
330 mm x 150 mm x 120 mm
As I'll not be able to take it to my local PO before the deadline, I was wondering if anybody could give me a price.
For UK deliveries I usually use recorded delivery, but a signed for parcel to Canada may be too high ...
or should |i just use that, to prevent any hassles and 'lost parcels'
thanks

I posted a shoe box size parcel to Canada Xmas time....it didn't have shoes in it but xmas present, so was probably a little heavier than shoes, although it felt quite light to me. To my shock it costs me £17 at the cheapest rate through the post office!0

There is a price calcualtor on the Royal Mail site for the various servcies offered, and you can also try quotes from www.parcel.2.go.com (though I imagine this would be quite costly)Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Just a tip, Canadian customs are very particular about how you address packages, you MUST make sure that your return address is in the top left hand corner of the front of the package or it may get delayed or even returned to sender.0

Thanks for that, a very important point I had not known about.
I actually always add a 'sent by' sticker and sometimes put it on the back and sometimes top left ... so I'm glad I saw your posting0 -
