I have recentley sent a letter to lloyds regarding bank charges and woke this morning to find they have put £100 in my account which is £500 off what i asked for in the letter. Now because they have put this money into my account does it mean i will have no chace to get the £500 back or is it just a gesture of goodwill off them?

What makes you think you had any chance of getting the £500? Any refund is at the goodwill of the bank. If they think £100 is right then that is what you will get. No-one can force them to pay anything else.
