* Neutral, or leave it!? *

Hello all, just a bit of 'what would you do' advice please.

I purchased a little miss DVD on ebay and when played, in areas, it goes completely silent for anything from 5 - 10 seconds. It's really annoying.

Anyway, seller has already left positive feedback.

I emailed about DVD, she said it was fine when she played it, and that her daughter watched it the saturday before sending. But if a child watched it, they may not have noticed it went silent? Either way I said that it is happening.

Didn't receive another reply, now wondering if I should leave neutral, or if that's a bit mean?

Maybe just send her an email back and ask her for a slight reduction in cost as it isn't as described. They may not have noticed when they watched it?

You could also try cleaning the actual disc as there may be something on it which is causing the sound drop...dirt does many strange things to a DVD.
  • Sounds like a copy to me.

You'll often find that copies work fine in cheap players but won't work in more expensive ones. This is because with the more expensive ones there is a higher sampling rate and therefore they highlight the errors on the DVD much better than cheaper lesser models.

I suggest trying the DVD on the cheapest nastiest DVD player you can find and if it still does it on that then start making noises about refunds etc..

    Thanks for the replies.

I've tried cleaning the disc, have tried it in the two players I have, and the same thing happens each time.

I could probably try emailing again, although I doubt she will respond, as she didn't respond to the last ones I sent.

  • If the dvd is not playing right its faulty so you have a right to get a refund, its upto the seller to sort you out.

If the seller ignores you then a Neg is the right action but do give them a few days at least to get back to you.

I sell originals and I've had some that do this, i've had to replace them.
  • Also I should add, try the dvd on another player and if the same happens with that its a faulty dvd.

Some dvd readers can be very dodgy so in that case it might not be the dvd itself unless it does the same thing on all players.
