Bathroom tiles

We are about to embark on a complete bathroom re-furb. Has anyone got any suggestions on where to get our bathroom tiles from? I want something which looks similar to Travertine but not Travertine itself because reading into Travertine it seems like a complete preparation nightmare. They are also pretty costly. I guess our budget is £15-£20 per sq.mtr but obviously if we could find something we like for cheaper then so much the better!
Any suggestions?

Where abouts do you live.
Over the years we have bought 3 lots for our kitchen and bathroom from Direct Tile Importers, excellent customer service.
One in York but I believe there are others.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
We are in Devon. Have had a look at their website but it seems they are only up north - a little too far to travel! Thanks for replying though!0

We recently did out bathroom with Travertine honed and filled tiles..was worried at first after reading info about use, but so long as your floor and walls are level, and you use flexible tile cement, and liquid sealer (applied with paint roller) before fixing and after grouting, we had no problems and they look fantastic. We did ours with underfloor heating too. Bought them from North East Company, Tiles Porcelain Uk , but they have tele sales office so I think they do Uk delivery
Price was very competitive, I did plenty of research first...we paid about £20 sq m for tiles, but bear in mind that adhesive, grout and sealant can bump up the cost almost double

Rearo do a couple of Travetine Selkie boards which might offer an alternative. We have used it extensively in our self build, very pleased with it.

I initially wanted travertine but was warned away because if used on floors it is not that hard wearing. In the end I went for plain white tiles, with areas of wall painted blue to add contrast. In the end the white tiles make it look really big, and bright, and the advantage of painted walls is that it is easy to change the colour if I get bored of it. That said, a flat I rented recently had travertine tiles on some of the walls, and the floor, and they looked nice. The edges were left bare, and it looked okay, probably better than using edging since it is a natural stone.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

i wonder were you can get them from? cough :-)
Trav effect between £12-16m2 should be no problem. a nice mosaic border can give a lovely effect and keep the cost down. i'm just putting together some 20m2 room deals for £270-£320 including 9 metres of a border - let me know if i can help (samples can be sent by post) - i have a really nice one arriving in about 3 weeks for £12.95m2, i have samples though.
Dont be put off real trav for maintenance\fitting reasons, but your budget would probably cut it out as an option. The cheapest we sell is £25m2 as we find quality drops below a certain price. you can get cheap trav, but its full of holes at the back (this is usually the source of 'trav is hard to fit' opinions) and is more filler than trav!
one consideration if you do go for trav is the wall covering your fixing to, if its a plastered wall trav can be too heavy for it, if its plasterboard, render (good condition) or backerboard then you'll be fine.0
