Pest control insurance cover

I've just renewed with L&V and they are trying to get me to include pest control cover - 20.00 as part of my home insurance.

What do you think? Is it worth taking out of not?

Many thanks

  • Havent read about it so..... what does it cover? what is the excess for a claim? does it count as a claim against your main policy?

Secondly, what sort of setting do you live in? modern suburbs? old rural property? victorian town centre?

The cost of pest control isnt massive, from my three limited experiences (1 hornets, 1 rats and 1 bats) but is more than a few pounds. I would be warey of it if it is going to count as a claim against my main policy due to loss of NCD and claims history loadings.

I know removal of wasps and the like is normally part of Home Emergency cover - if you claim on a HE policy it should not hangs your claims history.

    depends who....

RSA class it as a claim.

infact their was a thread recently where RSA refused to renew as customer call out 3 times on the Home emergency policy.
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

If we get a wasp nest we get a chap in with a long lance he uses to pump insecticide round the entrance.

He charges £35 which is less than the excess anyway.
