PPI with Singer & Friedlander?

Hi,
Hope you can help me here - a while ago now (circa ~2000) I bought a car which was financed through this lot.
Being young & naive at the time, I of course believed the patter of needing the PPI as part of the agreement.
Now my difficulty stems in that it's unlikely I have any of the paperwork (maybe a hunt at my parents could find an old A3 folded carbon copy of a finance document?) and via the power of Google S&F have long since gone pop.
Maybe a bit of a chancer, but if you don't ask you don't get. Is it something worth or even possible to persue? I had long written it down to experience, but you never know.
Thanks

Hi there,
Singer and Friedlander were taken over by Kaupthing which in turn got caught up in the Icelandic banking demise. Certain of their responsibilities were assumed by the British government, not sure that this would extend to any PPI liabilities though.
Sorry could not be of more help0
